VAS - Hindu Temple will be celebrating Mother’s Day on 8th May, 05 by invoking the blessings of the Universal Mother, Mathaji Lalita Devi. The program starts at 9:00 AM sharp with the recitation of Sri Lalita Sahasranamam.

Vasant Navaratri begins on 9th April. RUDRA EKADASI On Saturday, June 18th, 2005, an Abhisheka puja called Rudra Ekadasi will be performed in VAS Hindu Temple. This is a Puja for Lord Shiva, while Vedic Manthras such as Rudram, Chamakam, etc are chanted in unison by eleven persons. The Puja starts at 8.30 a.m. Arati at 12.30 p.m. The abhisheka puja will be done according to authentic Vedic prescriptions for the general welfare, health and long-life of the devotees. It will be followed by Prasad (Lunch).

Father’s Day June 19, 2005 VAS - Hindu Temple will be celebrating Father’s Day on June 19, 2005 by invoking the blessings of the Universal Father, Sri Mahavishnu. The program starts at 9:30 AM sharp with the recitation of Sri Vishnu Sahasranamam.

Diwali will be celebrated on October 30th from 6:00 to 8:00 PM. Highlighs of the program include: bhajans, children's performances and a special puja for Goddess Lakshmi . We request all the devotees to participate and seek the blessings of Goddess Lakshmi. The function will conclude with prasad.

Sri Rama Navami will be celebrated at the the Hindu Temple on Friday April 7, 7:00 - 9:00 p.m. Higlights of the program: Special Puju, Bhajans, a skit by children and Aarati to Ramayana, followed by Prasad. Daily Ramayan Recitation 10:00 a.m. 12:00 noon and 2:00-4:00 p.m.Mar. 30 to noon April 7th. Please contact Mrs. Tej Sharma (423-1988) if you wish to recite Ramayan during this time.

On 17th September a statue of Swami Vivekananda will be unveiled in front of our temple between 1:30-2:30 pm. This was the week in 1893 when Swami Vivekananda firmly established the broadness and highest virtues of Hindu philosophy to the North American public. The Mayor of Halifax Regional Municipality and the High Commissioner of India among other dignitaries have agreed to grace the event. Swami Tathagatananda, Head of Vedanta Society of New York will unveil the statue. We invite you and your friends to the investiture of first statue of a Hindu Monk in the public view in Canada.
